5 Herbs to Whiten Teeth Naturally
Help whiten teeth naturally with these herbs
If you find that regular brushing with toothpaste is not getting your teeth any whiter then why not try these natural herbs as well.
Before you consider a costly tooth whitening procedure such as bleaching or laser whitening then it's worth turning to natural ways first.
Below are 5 herbs that are said to be good at bringing back the whiteness in your teeth.
Check out the second herb in the list that is good for removing yellow stains and for bad breath.
Bay leaf
The bay leaf is one such herb for whitening your teeth, but it needs to be mixed with citrus fruit. Take one leaf and crush it into very small pieces. Crush a citrus fruit peel (can be an orange or a lemon) into a fine powder. Mix the powder and the leaf together to create a mixture that you can use to brush your teeth. This concoction must be applied up to three times a week.
Guava leaf
The guava leaf is also another herb for getting rid of yellow stains and it is also good for preventing bad breath. Simply take a leaf and crush it with a mortar and pestle to make a paste. Rub the crushed leaves on your teeth and brush them with your toothbrush.
Olive / Sesame / Coconut Oil
Amazingly, oil also works as a teeth-whitening cleanser through a process called oil pulling. Oil pulling is taking a spoonful of olive, sesame or coconut oil to the mouth and swishing it to your teeth the same way you swish your regular mouthwash. This should be done for 15-20 minutes every time you rise up in the morning.
Baking soda and Lemon juice
You can make a paste by mixing tablespoons of baking soda with a spoonful of freshly-squeezed lemon juice. Scoop up some of the paste using your toothbrush and apply it to your teeth. Leave it for one minute, then rinse.
Licorice root
Licorice root is used by Africans to naturally clean and whiten their teeth. Simply chew on a small piece of dried root until you create a small brush. You can use the improvised brush to clean your teeth or you can keep chewing the root.
